Boss Fights

Here is a collection of some noteworthy boss fights, including those where the enemy is positioned in the game without any special features. We will likely add more bosses with unique mechanics as we finalize other features.

SPHINX

How does it works?

When combat begins, the Sphinx presents a RIDDLE.
If the player does not choose a technique that solves the riddle, the Sphinx delivers a strike that reduces 33% of each Letalis total HP. (Three strikes will result in the team being defeated).
Before the next Letalis turn, the Sphinx displays the riddle again.
When the correct technique is used, the Sphinx confirms it with a "WELL DONE" message (or similar) and the combat ends.

Unlike other NPC combats, players are allowed to escape from the SPHINX.
Letalis attacks are considered valid for the answer, even if they miss.

There are three different Sphinxes in the game!

COUNT VESPER

How does it work?

You can only fight Vesper if you have Fangstorm in your team. If, for any reason, Fangstorm perishes in combat, the quest will be locked. Assuming that's not the case, players can trigger the fight.

Count Vesper has two phases:

  • PHASE 1 - Closed Cloak
In this initial stage, Count Vesper is a bulky opponent immune to all status conditions. After reducing its HP to 0, Count Vesper enters its second form.
  • PHASE 2 - Open Cloak
If you were expecting a Dragon-like Demon, we failed you. Count Vesper opens his Cloak, recovers all its HP, gains new combat skills and summons two Bats for the fight.

MEDUSA

How does it work?

This is the first boss fight we designed. Any Letalis not carrying a specfic piece of equipment will enter the unique status condition of STONE at the start of the fight (STONE is a STUN effect that lasts for the entire combat). Initially, it was just a puzzle fight, where carrying this item would turn Medusa into stone instead. However, we felt that wasn’t very fun, so the "challenge" now is simply figuring out this equipment and fight!

SASQUATCH & YETI

How does it work?

The player needs to get a quest where they gain a CAMERA. Sasquatch and Yeti are imposible to find without it. They are added as a random encounter in specific locations. When you found any of them on a fight, a white flash and a photoshoot sound are triggered at the start of the fight. Afterward a message appears saying "YOU GOT THE SASQUATCH/YETI PIC!"
They are tough opponents, so the player can escape afterwards.
If they don't have the camera or already have the picture, the flash and message won’t appear.
SASQUATCH and YETI are not BOSSES, but they are worth to mention since the Quest is in the game, the fights are in the game, but not all this effects.

DRAGON

How does it work?

The Dragon flies away when its HP drops below 20%, but the fight is not won at this point. The Dragon can spawn at three different locations after you beat it for the first time, and at the last one, it doesn't escape, allowing players to defeat it.

KRAKEN

How does it work?

When the Kraken loses certain amout of HP, it changes phases, switching to a combat against three tentacles.
Once all tentacles are defeated, the Kraken returns. This happens twice.

Why do the Letalis have six skills in the Sphinx image?

That image is from an older version of the game. Back then, each Letalis could have up to eight skills. However, we realized that was too much, so we reduced the number to four for better balance and gameplay simplicity.
